It's such a beautiful day...
Honestly, trying to write about this one is tough because, it feels less like watching a movie and more like a fever dream about the end of your life. Do not get fooled by it's simple appearence, this is the kind of film that sticks with you for days, or for your whole life...
The movie centers on Bill, who's dealing with a degenerative brain disease. The illness isn't named and it doesn't need to be, what matters is that his mind is breaking. His memories start looping, time vanishes out of his hands as days become numbers. The movie puts a big emphasis on how things feel while Bill wander around his minds, as if it was us, the viewers, who are feeling that sense of being absorbed by their own thoughs while the world around start getting past us, as if we weren't no longer part of it.
The whole thing is narrated by a voice that’s completely deadpan, almost clinical, which makes Bill's descent into madness even more heartbreaking. This narrator talks about Bill's horrible luck, his disastrous dates, and his family’s bizarre history of insanity with the same flat tone he uses to describe the mundanity in Bill's life. As we progress through the short film, we see how Bill's old normal twists into this series of hallucinations while he struggles to keep his mind in one piece. .
What really got to me was how the film uses flashbacks. We can relate to the feeling of looking back into our own history and wondering what would be of us if we took other choices throughout our lives. For Bill, life unravels as a series of questions about it's own existence, his birth, his family, everything that he wished once upon a time... what is he gonna leave behind now that he is vanishing in front of everyone he once knew..?
I won't keep spoiling this films for you folks. I absolutely love it and its a must watch for anyone who ever got this kind of questions about themselves every now and then. I'll link the first part of this film so you can take a look, feel free to follow through or not, the choice its up to you!!!
